Geneva Youth Call

Description

The Geneva Youth Call is an initiative designed to unite youth from around the world, amplifying their voices at the United Nations and contributing to necessary global changes. The project is centred around three key elements: a Virtual Platform, a World Youth Charter, and World Youth Assemblies. The Geneva Youth Team believes in the immense potential of young people to generate ideas and create solutions, provided they have a place to share and collaborate. The platform was created to connect youth globally, identify important issues, and develop new solutions together. The team is currently working on a World Youth Charter, inspired by youth proposals and solutions collected through their forms. This Charter will be debated and adopted during the first World Youth Assembly in April 2022, in Geneva. This assembly, independent of any state representation, will focus on environmental protection and provide a platform for young people to engage with UN experts and contribute to the formulation of the Youth Charter. The goal is to organise an annual World Youth Assembly, each time addressing a different global theme and updating the Charter accordingly. Between assemblies, the Geneva Youth Call aims to promote the Charter widely, encouraging governments and leaders to adopt and implement its solutions. Additionally, they plan to develop educational programmes to raise awareness about global issues and promote the proposed solutions.

Contribution to Innovation: The Geneva Youth Call significantly contributes to innovation by providing a unique platform for young people to connect, collaborate, and create solutions for pressing global challenges. Through their Virtual Platform, they facilitate the exchange of ideas and the development of innovative solutions. The World Youth Charter, a collaborative document shaped by youth proposals, serves as a blueprint for addressing key issues such as environmental protection. The World Youth Assemblies provide an inclusive space for young people to debate, refine, and adopt these solutions, fostering a culture of innovation and collective problem-solving. For example, the upcoming assembly in Geneva will focus on environmental protection, allowing young participants to engage directly with UN experts and influence global environmental policies. By continuously updating the Charter and promoting it to global leaders, the Geneva Youth Call ensures that youth-driven solutions are recognised and implemented. Their future plans to develop educational programmes further enhance their contribution to innovation, as they aim to educate and inspire more young people to participate in solving global issues. Through these efforts, the Geneva Youth Call not only harnesses the creative potential of youth but also drives significant progress towards sustainable and equitable global development.
